I make hand built ceramics inspired by the natural world, with one simple goal: to help you bring the outside in. Every vessel I shape starts with something I have observed outdoors. I want each piece to carry a little of that outside world into your space.

From pixels to clay

For years, my creative life lived on a screen. I was a motion graphics designer, building worlds frame by frame, pixel by pixel.

Clay is the opposite of that. It's slow. It's real. It doesn't care how fast I can work or how many revisions I can undo. When I sit down at the wheel or start hand building a piece, my mind slows down with it. I'm pulled into the present moment in a way nothing else quite manages. Clay has taught me patience. It has taught me to respect the process, even, especially when, a piece doesn't turn out the way I planned. Every single piece is a new lesson.

How this all began

My life changed completely the day my daughter was born. I fell into motherhood so deeply and so completely that somewhere along the way, I lost track of myself. I never went back to my career. I don't regret that, she is my heart and soul, but I reached a point where I knew I needed something that was mine. Something outside of being "Mami."

So I signed up for a pottery class to reclaim a little piece of my own time. In that class, I built a planter with my hands, of my hands, pressed right into the clay. It's not perfect. It has flaws all over it. It now sits in my garden holding a California Dudleya, and it is, without question, my most treasured piece. It's a daily reminder to hold on to the things I love, for me.

Where the name comes from

My mom has always dreamed of owning a little shop of her own. She's spent her life surrounded by crafts and plants, and that love found its way into me long before I ever touched a lump of clay. The first time I showed her what I was making in the studio, she looked at my pieces and said, "¡Ay mija, están preciosas!", oh darling, they're beautiful.

That's where the name comes from. Every piece I make carries a little of her in it, too.
